Under the procedural guidance of the Office of the Prosecutor General, in February 2025, a resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region was exposed and detained for involvement in an attempted intentional murder of an entrepreneur from Dnipropetrovsk.

According to the investigation, the accused, along with other individuals, agreed for a reward to kill the businessman using firearms.

During the preparation of the crime, they established the victim's daily routine, his movement routes, and chose a location for the attack that was dangerous not only for the victim but also for other people.

In May 2018, near a gas station in Zaporizhzhia, they fired at the entrepreneur's car as it was moving along the road. At least 15 shots were fired at the vehicle with automatic weapons. The victim and two other individuals were inside the car. Despite the shooting, the entrepreneur survived, sustaining injuries.

After this, the attackers left the weapons and ammunition at the scene and fled, while the motorcycle they used for escape was later set on fire to destroy evidence.

As a result of the pre-trial investigation, the Office of the Prosecutor General sent an indictment against the resident of the Dnipropetrovsk region for committing criminal offenses under part 2 of Article 15, subparagraphs 5, 6, 11, 12 of part 2 of Article 115, and part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine to the court.

The accused faces a punishment of imprisonment for a term of ten to fifteen years or life imprisonment, with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Main Investigative Department of the National Police of Ukraine.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
