Prosecutors of the Solomiansky District Prosecutor's Office of Kyiv have informed the head of the company of suspicion of embezzling budget funds during the repair of external power supply lines on the Syrets-Pechersk metro line.

His actions have been classified under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, namely: embezzlement of someone else's property by abusing a public official's position, committed under martial law, in particularly large amounts.

It has been established that a contract was concluded between the company and the KP "Kyiv Metro" for the capital repair of external power supply cable lines on the Syrets-Pechersk metro line. Under the terms of the contract, the company was to lay over 1000 meters of high-voltage cable on the Syrets-Pechersk line. The work was carried out in 2024.

In order to embezzle budget funds, the director of the contracting organization used cable purchased in Ukraine, while indicating in the documents that it was purchased abroad, thus inflating its cost.

According to the conclusions of the examinations, KP "Kyiv Metro" overpaid under this contract by more than 2.7 million hryvnias, causing losses to the capital's budget in this amount.

The sanction of the article provides for punishment in the form of imprisonment for up to twelve years, with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Solomiansky Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Kyiv with operational support from the DSR of the National Police.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
