Under the procedural guidance of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, a number of officials from state authorities, local self-government, and heads of communal enterprises and business entities have been exposed for actions related to abuse of office, embezzlement of budget funds, and other corruption offenses. 

The total amount of damages exceeds 10.6 million UAH.

Among the 9 suspects:

• the first deputy director of one of the departments of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, who embezzled over 8.6 million UAH of budget funds during the procurement of uninterruptible power supply systems for the city's educational institutions;

• the former head of the Department of Education and Science of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, whose negligence allowed contractors to inflate the scope of work for the repair of shelters in schools, causing damages of nearly 300 thousand UAH;

• the village head, who entered into additional contracts for the supply of electricity at inflated prices, causing damages to the local budget of over 606 thousand UAH;

• the village head, who embezzled nearly 200 thousand UAH of budget funds during the procurement of goods and services;

• the director of a communal enterprise in Zaporizhzhia, who purchased electricity at inflated prices, causing damages to the budget of 400 thousand UAH;

• the director of a communal enterprise in the Melitopol district, who embezzled more than 310 thousand UAH during the procurement of laptops for educational institutions;

• the director of a communal enterprise in the medical field, whose negligence during the procurement of natural gas for the hospital caused damages of nearly 156 thousand UAH;

• the director of a contracting organization, who inflated the cost of work during the major renovation of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Youth Center and misappropriated 100 thousand UAH of budget funds;

• the head of the department of a vocational higher education institution, who received an unlawful benefit for influencing the decision-making of an official.

All the mentioned facts are confirmed by the materials of criminal proceedings, which are being investigated under Articles 191 (misappropriation, embezzlement of property or acquisition of it through abuse of office), 364 (abuse of power or office), 367 (negligence), 369-2 (abuse of influence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Comprehensive measures for the exposure were carried out by prosecutors of the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine.

The procedural guidance was provided by the Zaporizhzhia Regional Prosecutor's Office, as well as the Voznesenivskyi, Dniprovskiy, and Shevchenkivskyi District Prosecutor's Offices of Zaporizhzhia, Melitopol, Polohy, and Zaporizhzhia District Prosecutor's Offices.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
