29.10.2025
Under the procedural guidance of the Pryluky District Prosecutor's Office, a forest ranger from the district forestry has been notified of suspicion of official negligence that caused severe consequences for state interests (part 2 of Article 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
According to the investigation, in June 2024, the ranger of one of the forestry units in the Pryluky district improperly performed his official duties. During a selective sanitary logging, which was conducted on legal grounds — under an issued logging ticket — he did not supervise the work of the contracting team and did not check whether they adhered to the boundaries of the area designated for logging.
As a result, without his supervision, the workers cut down over 150 trees of various species that were not subject to logging and grew outside the permitted territory.
According to experts' calculations, the environment suffered damage exceeding 8.8 million UAH.
The official is charged with official negligence that caused severe consequences for the environment.
Expert studies were conducted by experts from the Chernihiv Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The pre-trial investigation is being carried out by investigators of the Pryluky District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Chernihiv region with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernihiv region.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
