The accused engaged in reconnaissance and subversive activities against Ukraine in favor of the Russian Federation. He established a communication channel via Telegram with a representative of the aggressor state – an employee of the FSB of the Russian Federation, to whom he transmitted data regarding military facilities, critical infrastructure, and industrial enterprises in Odesa.
The Odesa resident provided detailed descriptions of the operational features of the facilities, access regimes, technological processes, and transmitted coordinates of locations along with photographic materials marked with geographical tags.
In addition, he sent data about Ukrainian servicemen, their training, the activities of territorial recruitment centers, the results of missile strikes, the operation of air defense systems, as well as sentiments among the civilian population.
To gather information, the accused used both his own observations and data from open sources, as well as communication with acquaintances who are servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The hostile informant also expressed a willingness to personally join the armed forces of the Russian Federation.
He is currently in custody. He faces a penalty of imprisonment for a term of 15 years to life imprisonment.
The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Chernivtsi region with operational support from the counterintelligence of the SBU.
Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
