Under the procedural guidance of the Kharkiv Regional Prosecutor's Office, a citizen has been notified of suspicion for disseminating information about the movement, maneuvering, and location of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and other military formations established in accordance with the laws of Ukraine (part 2 of Article 114-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in April 2024, a resident of Kharkiv began communicating with a representative of the Russian Federation through one of the messengers. During an air raid alert, the man would go out onto the balcony of his apartment, located on the outskirts of the city, and observe the work of the Ukrainian air defense. He plotted the obtained data on Google Maps and sent it to his interlocutor in the Russian Federation. The intelligence data was planned to be used by the occupiers for drone strikes and the use of guided aerial bombs on the positions of the Defense Forces. In fact, the enemy was trying to weaken the defense of the frontline city and leave the civilian population unprotected.

Law enforcement officers detained the individual at his place of residence in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. A preventive measure in the form of detention without the right to bail has been chosen for him.

The pre-trial investigation and operational support are carried out by the Security Service of Ukraine in the Kharkiv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
