Abuse of office with losses of more than UAH 2.7 million - in Poltava region will be tried by the head of the department of education, youth and sports of the village council

Prosecutors of the Reshetylivka District Prosecutor's Office have sent two indictments to the court regarding the head of the education, youth, and sports department of the village council in the Poltava region.

The woman is accused of abuse of office, resulting in serious consequences, and official forgery (Part 2 of Article 364, Part 1 of Article 366 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

According to the investigation, in 2023, the official entered into two contracts with contractor companies for the procurement of modular simple shelters for educational institutions. Subsequently, despite the remarks from the State Emergency Service representative regarding the non-compliance of the shelters with regulatory requirements, the woman signed the acceptance-transfer acts. This became the basis for the transfer of over 2.7 million UAH of budget funds to the contractors' accounts.

Expert examinations conducted during the pre-trial investigation confirmed the non-compliance of the shelters with building norms and state standards and their unsuitability for intended use.

In order to recover damages, prosecutors have filed civil claims against the accused.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings was carried out by investigators of the Poltava police.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.
