Prosecutors of the Halych District Prosecutor's Office in Lviv have sent an indictment to the court against the former deputy head of one of the village councils in the Lviv region. He is accused of abuse of power (Part 1 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

 The investigation has established that in 2023, the accused organized the procurement of goods at inflated prices to meet the needs of one of the military units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This concerns portable radio-electronic means of detection and counteraction to unmanned aerial vehicles (anti-drone guns and anti-drone complexes).

At that time, the accused, who was the deputy village head, abused his power. In particular, he formed a request for the procurement of anti-drone equipment, where he unjustifiably included value-added tax in its cost. It should be noted that defense-related goods are exempt from such taxation. Subsequently, this request was passed on by the official to his subordinate, who was responsible for public procurement.

As a result of such actions by the official, the rural territorial community suffered damage of over 300 thousand UAH.

The pre-trial investigation is being conducted by the Lviv District Police Department No. 1 of the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region, with operational support from the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region.

Note: according to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a court verdict.
