Illegal sand extraction in Bobrytsya village in Kyiv region has been stopped
11.07.2025
Documentation in the criminal proceedings regarding the illegal extraction of sand on agricultural land in the village of Bobrytsia, Kyiv region, began in 2023.
Based on the collected evidence, prosecutors from the Specialized Environmental Prosecutor's Office of the Prosecutor General's Office, together with the Main Investigation Department and the State Bureau of Investigation of the National Police of Ukraine, conducted searches, inspections with the involvement of special equipment, and halted the illegal activities.
It has been established that the land plot, with an area of 5.5 hectares, has been privately owned since 2018. The rough documentation discovered during the search effectively confirms that illegal extraction and sale of sand had been carried out for a long time. As a result, a water body with an area of over 3 hectares and a depth of more than 6 meters was formed, which could have caused an ecological disaster.
A series of expert examinations is ongoing regarding the type of extracted minerals, as well as the actual volumes and the amount of ecological damage caused. After obtaining the necessary conclusions, individuals involved in the extraction and sale of sand will be notified of suspicion and measures will be taken to compensate for the damages incurred.
Pre-trial investigation under part 3 of Article 240 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is ongoing, and all necessary investigative actions are being conducted.
