Prosecutors of the Ternopil Regional Prosecutor's Office, in cooperation with other law enforcement agencies, have notified 19 individuals of suspicion, including the director of the branch of the National Academy of Sciences, the state registrar of the Ministry of Justice, officials of the forest farm, the director of a municipal enterprise, accountants, and the chief accountant of the city and village council, the municipal enterprise, directors of contracting companies, entrepreneurs, and city council employees.

The amount of damages is over UAH 48 million.

Embezzlement and misappropriation of budget funds

- the state registrar of the Shumsk City Council committed unlawful registration actions regarding a real estate object, as a result of which real estate worth UAH 27 million was removed from the property of the State Enterprise of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

- the director of the company misappropriated budget funds for the supply of low-quality coal for the village council and the hospital, with losses exceeding UAH 7 million.

- two directors of the company, together with the inspector of technical supervision, misappropriated budget funds during the overhaul of educational buildings in the Ternopil region. Damages exceed UAH 3 million 400 thousand.

- the chief accountant of the municipal enterprise of the city council allowed unjustified payments to consumers for compensation of the tariff difference, resulting in losses of UAH 1.4 million.

- the acting director of the agricultural research station of the branch sold wheat at a price below the market price. The unreceived budget revenues amounted to over UAH 1,277,000.

- the head of the economic entity appropriated the property of the Berezhany City Council, which was in storage. Losses amounted to UAH 426 thousand.

Education

- two directors of the company, together with the inspector of technical supervision, misappropriated budget funds during the overhaul of educational facilities for more than UAH 3 million 310 thousand;

- the accountant of the city council illegally procured products prohibited for the educational institution. Losses amounted to UAH 315 thousand.

Damage to the environment

- the head of the farm allowed illegal felling of trees in the regional landscape park "Dniester Canyon." Losses amounted to UAH 1.7 million.

- the forester of Zalozets Forestry Branch "Kremenets Forestry," SFE "Forests of Ukraine," improperly performed his duties regarding forest protection. Illegally, 204 trees were cut down in excess of the established norm, with losses exceeding UAH 1.5 million.

- the forest master of Chortkiv Forestry, SFE "Forests of Ukraine," allowed illegal felling of the forest, resulting in damages of UAH 740 thousand.

Also

the director and chief forester of the communal forestry were exposed and notified of suspicion for illegal felling of the forest, causing damage to the surrounding natural environment amounting to UAH 50 million.

the case of the former head of the Main Directorate of the State Tax Service of Ukraine in the Ternopil region, who failed to declare property worth over UAH 13.7 million, has been sent to trial.

The actions of the suspects are classified under part 2, 4, 5 of Art. 191, part 3 of Art. 365-2, part 1, 2 part 4 of Art. 246, part 1, part 2 of Art. 367 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.

Prosecutors have prepared a motion for the selection of preventive measures and the suspension of suspects from their positions.

The pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings is carried out under the procedural supervision of prosecutors of the Prosecutor's Office of the Ternopil region in cooperation with the Main Department of National Police, the Strategic Investigation Department, and the State Bureau of Investigation in the Ternopil region.

According to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until their guilt is proven in a lawful manner and established by a guilty verdict of the court.

In Ternopil region the embezzlement of budget funds was exposed
